Coffee By Design opened its doors 22 years ago with two goals—to give back to the local community and provide their customers with a superior coffee experience. In 1994 owners Mary Allen Lindemann and Alan Spear opened their first Coffee By Design coffeehouse in Portland, Maine. What started as a humble coffeehouse with a part-time barista, has grown into a sustainable business that currently employs 45 individuals in its four coffeehouses and micro roastery.
